Attendance Policy

Absences are only excused if it is due to student's illness, funeral services for immediate family, quarantine, and to spend time with an immediate family member who is an active member of the uniformed services. Unexcused Absences include, visiting relatives, family emergencies, vacations, student birthdays, and oversleeping. We can excuse medical/dental appointments for students who are tardy. If a student is more than 30 minutes late, it's considered a SARB tardy and will go towards truancy. If you do not report your child's absence, it will be considered unverified. Unexcused and unverified absences can lead to Truancy Letters.

  • Letter #1 is sent after 3 unexcused/unverified absences
  • Letter #2 is sent after 4 unexcused/unverified absences
  • When letter #2 is sent, a meeting is scheduled with the principal and site attendance contract is signed.
  • If attendance has not improved after site contract, family will result in a SARB (Student Attendance Review Board) hearing at the district office.

This information is intended to inform parents on the truancy process in the State of California. Please reach out to our Attendance desk for any questions.
