Kindergarten registration is just around the corner. Now is the perfect time to begin exploring the educational options available for your child.

How Do I Find My Resident School

Regardless of which program or school you would like your student to attend, you must first register at your resident school. To find your resident school, please use our online school locator program. Input your home address and find out your resident school.

The following are required to register your child:

1. Proof of date of birth (birth certificate, baptismal certificate, or other legal proof),
2. Two forms verifying proof of residency, and
3. Written immunization record from a physician, nurse, or health department. 

Children must be immunized for MMR - measles, mumps and rubella (German measles), polio, DTaP - diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis (whooping cough), Hepatitis B, and Varicella (chicken pox) prior to school entry.  State law requires students beginning Kindergarten have all required immunizations.  Students missing immunizations will not be able to start school until we received these records.

Chico Unified School District is excited to offer traditional and alternative programs such as:

• Transitional Kindergarten (a fun and educational program for children who turn five between September 2, 2018 and December 2, 2018)
• Traditional Kindergarten (for children five years old on or before September 1, 2018)
• Hands-on Thematic Learning Community Program (project based, exploratory learning)
• Academics Plus Program (best practices of a traditional school with the benefits of new technologies)
• STEM Program (Science Technology Engineering Arts & Mathematics emphasis)
• Two-Way Immersion Program (Spanish/English learning)

Applications for these alternative programs, as well as Form 10 School of Choice applications, will be available at the time of registration.

Parents of children who will enter Transitional Kindergarten or Kindergarten in the Chico Unified School District in 2018-2019 are invited to attend the upcoming Kindergarten Faire at Chico High School in Lincoln Hall.  Families will be able to ask questions regarding our basic core curriculum, Schools of Choice (the Form 10 process), alternative programs (Academics Plus at Sierra View, Two-Way Immersion at Rosedale, Hooker Oak K-8 Open Structure School, the STEM program - Science, Technology, Engineering and Math - at Parkview Elementary), and the process for registration.

Kindergarten Faire

• When: Thursday, November 30
• Time: 5:30 to 7:00 p.m.
• Location: Chico High School, Lincoln Hall (on W. Lincoln Ave. side - 901 Esplanade, Chico)

Applications for these alternative programs, as well as Form 10 School of Choice applications, will be available at the time of registration. All children will be enrolled, but some may have to attend a school other than the one serving their residence area.
